I need your opinions!

I’ve had a request for a different file-sharing option other than Rapidshare. Here’s what I need to know:

1. What is the user-friendliest place for sharing freebies, both the uploading and downloading process?
2. What is the user-friendliest place for uploading, storing, and sharing large files?

In other words, whom do you all like? Whom do you use the most? I’ll be happy to add some options if Rapidshare turns out to be a pain for everyone.

The Lazy Designer's Way to Creating Realistic Wood Effects

Turn all your text and elements into beautiful, polished wood with one click! Save time, make more money!

I’ve created a set of Photoshop styles that have been immensely helpful in my designs. Styles are perhaps the easiest and most effective tool in Photoshop. All the magic happens in the Styles palette. Bevels, gloss, shadows, colors, opacity, it’s all there!

These beautiful, polished wood styles will instantly give all your elements a completely realistic, wooden look, because the patterns were created using tilable photographs of polished woods, not digitally created wood.

These styles are perfect for the designer with little time and lots of creativity. They’re great for styling frames, alphas, elements, text, do-dads, whatnots, and anything else you can stick on a layout!

All styles are completely adjustable. Is it too shiny? You can adjust the bevel. Don’t like the angle of the drop shadow? You can change that too. Everything can be adjusted to suit your own tastes and needs.

Set contains:

20 Photoshop Styles, one zip - two sets (for quicker PS loading)

Close-up Previews so you can choose the wood you want

Complete Instructions

Click on any of the previews above for a larger look in a new window. Tested in PS7 - CS2. Commercial-use encouraged, anti-TOU at the botton of front page.

Amen, and Amen!

This totally has nothing to do with anything, I just found it on a blog and it made me snort coffee. Enjoy, but put your drink down first...

This is an actual letter from an Austin,Texas woman sent to the American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter:

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever suffered from the curse'? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customers monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behaviour.
You surely realize it's a tough time for most women. In fact, only last week, my friend Jennifer fought the violent urge to shove her boyfriend's testicles into a George Foreman Grill just because he told her he thought Grey's Anatomy was written by drunken chimps. Crazy!

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants...

...Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you ****ing kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable?

Well, did it, James?

FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak girl, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you just have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer'?

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bulls**t. And that's a promise I will keep.

Always.

Best,

Free 20x10 Background Papers!

Hey, how about some papers to go along with those storyboard actions? I have four 20in x 10in vintage background papers for your page-making pleasure. Papers of this size are kind of difficult to find, I know. I'll be putting up more just as soon as possible.

Anyway, four 20x10s, 300dpi, you know the drill. Click on the preview above to download, click on the preview below for a larger view in a new window. And the flowered paper isn't blurry, it has a painted texture. Not sure why it looks so fuzzy.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: Now available in the CU Store!

KISS!Actions Set 2 for 20x10 Storyboards

Here it is! Exactly like Set 1 only totally different.

Included are ten Photoshop actions that create 20in x 10in storyboards. It's nothin' but board, baby! No drop shadows, no textures, nada…nothing but meticulous attention to measuring, what I fondly refer to as grunt work.

These storyboards can easily be used for Asuka Books, KISS Wedding Albums, or any of the leading coffee table-style books out there. Simply run the action, and in seconds (like 2), you’ll have your nekked template ready to dress up.

This is where you would want to do the resizing, before adding any elements. Since the action creates a template that is free of any information other than white pixels, you can resize to your hearts’ content without doing any damage.

Simply drop the board into any album’s page template and resize. Vio’la! In just a few seconds you’ll be on your way to making a beautiful page, and we all know that’s the fun part!

You’ll cut your album or book-creating time in half…whatever will you do with all that free time???

KISS!Actions Set 2 includes:

10 Photoshop actions for 10 unique, 20in x 10in storyboards in RGB, 300dpi
Complete set of instructions

Tested in PS7 – CS2. Commercial use welcomed and encouraged! To see just how much it is encouraged, check out my "I'm Over It!" TOU at the bottom of this page! I am so over it all.

This is a downloadable item, nothing will be mailed. As such, no refunds are available after item has been downloaded. Feel free to ask questions in the "Comments" area!

KISS!Actions Set 1 for 20x10 Storyboards

Ready in an instant with the click of a button. Call 'em microwave storyboards!

(Click image for larger preview in new window)

Do we all loooove storyboards, or what? Whether you’re a designer, a photographer, or just a photo enthusiast, we all know how useful and versatile storyboards are. But how much do we HATE doing all that measuring? As you know, this is not the fun part of designing.

I was frustrated by just how much time I was spending creating storyboards, and out of that frustration came KISS!Actions for Photoshop. In less time than it takes to open a new canvas manually, you can click a button and have a beautiful (if you like completely nekked), 20 x 10 storyboard, ready and waiting for you to dress it up a little or a lot! Most storyboard windows are standard sizes (somewhere in the world). And don’t forget, you can rotate the boards to create 10x20 boards (duh), but you can also flip the boards or overlay them to create even more boards!

That’s a lot of possibilities for 10 little actions. And let’s face it, can you ever have enough? I say heck no! As I said, the boards are completely nekked. No decorations, no textures, no drop shadows.

KISS!Actions are awesome if you are a designer who creates wedding or family albums to sell to photographers. Or perhaps you are a photographer and you’re looking for new and exciting ways to show your work to potential customers. Or maybe you just like to show off all those beautiful family photos in a mounted or framed fashion.

Whatever your flavor, KISS!Actions will save you hours of time doing boring, tedious, monotonous, grunt work, and get you back to creating where you belong (can you tell I hate the grunt work???).

KISS!Actions Set 1 includes:

10 Photoshop actions for 10 unique, 20in x 10in storyboards in RGB, 300dpi
Complete set of instructions

Tested in PS7 – CS2. Commercial use welcomed and encouraged! To see just how much it is encouraged, check out my "I'm Over It!" TOU at the bottom of this page! I am so over it all.
